Fishing Report - 03/24/07
Greetings from Pesca Panama,
We were glad to welcome back returning anglers Diane and Eben Huston, Rob Smyth, Nick Burguat, and Chuck Byard. Rounding out the group was Pesca Panama first timers Susan and Ron Lovell, Rod Jordan, Vito Cacuccioco, Jack Nichols, Elias Ruonavaara, Chuck Byard, and Hardy Dunn. We were glad to have everyone here for a great week of fishing as well as weather.
After a couple of weeks without having much luck on the big Tuna we were finally able to find a few that were willing to bite. Team Lucho started the week off when they happened upon some Porpoise at Hannibal Bank landing six Tuna on topwater between 30 and 50 lbs with the largest being a 100 lb fish taken by Mitch Byard on topwater. The following day the crew found Tuna biting at Jicaron as well as Montousa. Many smaller Tuna were taken on topwater with the two largest being 140 lb Tuna on topwater by Rob Smyth and a 220 lb monster taken by Eben Hustun on a live Skipjack. Congratulations guys on a couple great fish.
With our first rain of the new year and the water temps cooling we found some great inshore action as well. The Cubera were willing to eat jigs, rise on topwater, as well as eat live bait which can make for some great action. Two of the top Cubera were a 54 lb fish taken by Rod Jordan on jig and a 45 lb fish taken by Chuck Byard on topwater. There was also some great action to be had with Big Amberjack on jig and a Super sized 94 lb Broomtail which was caught by Eben Hustun. A great morning in the Snook Hole rounded things out for the week with a 16 lb fish taken by Nick Burguat.
Thank you guys for a great week at Coiba! We look forward to fishing with you in the future.
